August Meeting - Applique

We are now going into our 2nd year at Southern Utah Fiber Artist. Our new Chairman, Rosemary Hargrove, gave us a wonderful inspiring welcome and reminded us that we are all here to learn, be all inclusive and just have fun. Rosemary reminded us that this is not a guild but a group of friends wanting to learn new things and if there is ever a problem to let someone know so it can be dealt with. We are excited for the many SUFA meetings and all that we get to share and learn. If you need to, please read our Mission Statement. This is going to be a great year! Our Secretary is Diana Lockwood and our Blogger is Alicia Lockwood.

At the August meeting we presented our past Chairman, Cheryl Styler, with a card and flowers as a thank you for the last year.

Something new we will be doing every month is we will have a question jar where members can put any questions that they have related to fiber arts. These questions may be answered at the end of meeting if there is time left or at the following meeting.

Next month Alicia Lockwood will be showing everyone how to get to the blog and demo the Pantone color finder app that was featured in the Quilting Arts magazine.

AUGUST DEMONSTRATION

Our August demonstration was put on by Jan Kalian about Hand Applique. She gave step by step instructions so that all members were able to try their hand at appliqueing a heart. With many pricks and laughter many were able to finish their small heart piece. It was a fun night and very informative. It was great to hear what technique others have also done for Hand Applique. Jan gave us a handout as well, if you would like a copy, please let us know and we will get you one. Thank you, Jan, for sharing your knowledge with us all!
